SEF registration

Since 2015, Portugal has strengthened the application of a long-standing law that requires anyone providing paid holiday accommodation to register entry, exit and identification details of all non-Portuguese citizens using such accommodation.

This law came into force in Portugal, and in other EU countries, with the gradual implementation of the 1990 Schengen Agreement, which aims to prevent human trafficking and other illegal practices. In this case, it is specifically Article 45 of the Schengen Agreement and the Local Accommodation Law in Portugal, which gave greater importance to this rule.

The inspection body for the movement of foreigners is the SEF (Foreigners and Borders Service or Immigration and Borders Service).

If you do not have Portuguese nationality, fill in the following form before your check-in. One form must be submitted for each non-national guest, including minors.
